Barcelona, Spain and Munich, Germany, September 1, 2026. SomDevices, the Barcelona-based designer and manufacturer of μSMARC System-on-Modules based on the SMARC module standard and embedded Linux solutions, and CELUS, an industry leader in cloud-based electronics design automation, today announced an integration partnership that brings SomDevices' μSMARC System-on-Modules to the CELUS Design Platform.
Under the partnership, seven SomDevices modules built on NXP i.MX processors will be represented as reusable, application-ready design content within CELUS. Engineers will be able to evaluate module options earlier, understand key interfaces and implementation requirements in context, and move more efficiently from product requirements toward reference schematics and bills of materials.
A partnership built for next-generation embedded systems
Embedded systems are being asked to deliver more computing performance and on-device intelligence within smaller form factors and tighter power budgets. System-on-Modules help engineering teams address these demands by combining the processor, memory and core system functions in a single module, reducing carrier-board complexity and enabling proven designs to be reused across product families.
SomDevices' μSMARC portfolio brings this approach to a compact, SMARC-compatible 82 by 30 mm form factor, helping engineers build scalable embedded platforms while reducing space, power consumption and carrier-board complexity. Built for embedded Linux, the modules support industrial, medical, transportation, agriculture, security, smart retail and vending, smart home, smart cities and edge AI applications.
Selecting a module, however, is only the beginning. Engineering teams must still compare interfaces, power requirements, peripheral options and carrier-board implementation details. By bringing SomDevices' portfolio to the CELUS Design Platform, the companies make those decisions easier to evaluate at the architecture stage, when they have the greatest impact on development time, cost and design risk.
Seven μSMARC modules, built as CUBOs
The partnership covers four NXP i.MX based module families. Three are included in a full configuration and a configuration without wireless connectivity, and the i.MX8M Mini is included in its full configuration:

Each configuration is built as a separate CUBO, so engineers select the exact variant their design calls for rather than reconciling options inside a single datasheet.

Turning μSMARC modules into application-ready design building blocks
As electronics systems become more sophisticated, engineering teams face increasing pressure to shorten development cycles without compromising design quality. The CELUS Design Platform helps teams move from system requirements to a structured hardware architecture, combining AI-assisted guidance with reusable design knowledge to explore implementation options and generate reference schematics and bills of materials.
SomDevices modules are represented as CUBOs, the reusable circuit modules on the CELUS Design Platform, also known as Digital Datasheets. A CUBO combines technical specifications with application-oriented information such as interfaces, schematic context, bill-of-materials details and implementation guidance. That gives engineers a more complete view of how a μSMARC module fits into a real system, reducing reliance on datasheet comparison alone and creating a clearer starting point for carrier-board development. Designs then continue in the engineer's own tool through the platform's integrations with Altium Designer, KiCad, Siemens EDA and Autodesk Fusion.

Availability
The seven μSMARC CUBOs are in development now and will be available to engineers on the CELUS Design Platform in the fourth quarter of 2026. A reference project based on the SomDevices SMARC carrier board will follow.
