Overview

This tutorial showcases the image-to-design feature of the CELUS Design Assistant. Instead of manually recreating Projects from sketches or manufacturer reference images, users can upload a photo, and the platform automatically generates a functional system design on the canvas. The tool supports further refinements through text-based prompts, making it a hybrid workflow of visual and textual input.

Design Assistant – From Image to Intelligent Architecture

For engineers who prefer whiteboards and sketches over paragraphs of system descriptions, CELUS now offers a smarter and more intuitive way to start your hardware design: image-based input for block diagram generation.

Whether it’s a napkin sketch from a brainstorm session or a reference diagram from a component datasheet, the Design Assistant can interpret visual system representations and convert them into CELUS-compatible block diagrams. Using the new image upload function located next to the Generate button, users can import images that depict their intended architecture.

Once uploaded, the AI scans the image to identify key functional elements such as power supplies, sensors, microcontrollers, or connectivity modules. The result is a populated design canvas that mirrors the diagram’s structure. For example, a rough sketch featuring a battery, MCU, temperature sensor, and wireless module gets accurately translated into functional blocks, automatically wired and ready for further editing.

Post-generation, users can refine the design through text prompts—such as adding a USB connector—or manually using standard CELUS tools. This hybrid workflow enables fast iteration from visual concept to executable system architecture.

Conclusion

The CELUS Design Assistant’s image input functionality streamlines the transition from concept to design. It enables faster iteration, intuitive interaction, and scalable complexity management—directly from textual input. This tool exemplifies CELUS’ mission to automate and simplify electronics design without compromising precision or flexibility.
